BCVLex Celebrates International Women’s Day by Inspiring Future Lawyers
This March 8th, BCVLex marked International Women’s Day in a unique and meaningful way. Our partner, Rebeca Martínez, visited a preschool to share her journey as a lawyer with young children. It was a day filled with learning and creativity, where Rebeca not only introduced them to her profession but also shared the values that drive her work.
Engaging Young Minds with Creativity
Explaining law to little kids can be a challenge, so Rebeca turned her talk into a fun and interactive experience. She used creative tricks to spark curiosity and keep them engaged. One of the highlights was her outfit—she arrived in a traditional lawyer’s robe and wig, which instantly caught the children’s attention. Their curiosity took over as they asked about her attire, making it the perfect icebreaker to introduce them to the world of law.
Bringing Law to Life with Colors and Interaction
To simplify complex legal concepts, Rebeca used books filled with colorful post-it notes. Each note highlighted key words like “justice,” “equality,” and “responsibility,” making the discussion more accessible and engaging. The children eagerly flipped through the pages, discovering new ideas with every bright post-it, and enthusiastically joined in the conversation about legal values.
Encouraging Participation and Critical Thinking
Rebeca made sure the session was interactive, inviting children to ask questions and imagine what they would do if they were lawyers. These moments of engagement made them feel included, turning the talk into a dynamic exchange rather than a lecture. Their excitement and eagerness to participate showed a genuine interest in topics like fairness and equality.
Law as a Tool for Justice and Equality
Beyond the fun activities, Rebeca took the opportunity to talk about the core values of the legal profession—justice, responsibility, and equality. She explained how lawyers play a vital role in defending people’s rights and making the world a fairer place. More than just a job, she described law as a powerful tool for positive change—an idea that resonated with her young audience.
Inspiring the Next Generation
The event was a huge success, leaving the children with a fresh perspective on what it means to be a lawyer. Through an engaging and accessible approach, Rebeca managed to share the core principles of her work and its impact on society. At BCVLex, we celebrate the women who are shaping a better future and inspiring generations to come.
